Sigur Ros is Back!

My friend Andy reminded me that Sigur Ros just came out with a new album. Not that i didn't already know that...but i was reminded that this is the kind of stuff that i should share with all my online friends.
Dustin, forget your alt-country love affair for a minute.
Of any band, Sigur Ros has probably had the biggest impact on me musically. Not that i now sing in a high pitched voice or frolic in the meadow with the elf from the lord of the rings or anything. Honestly, what made me love Sigur Ros so much was running. When i started running a while back i would listen them endlessly. They are such nice background music and would often make me forget that running hurts and that i hate it. Anyhow, i was excited for their new CD to be released. It did not disappoint. They are definitely changing directions...but it's a good thing.

Larissa and i saw them a few years back at Madison Square Garden in NY. It was awesome. And they're coming to Portland. Anybody want to go?

Top 10 lists are lame
I promise to never make such a list. But, if I were to, I would make this list:
Picture it, you are walking home from school – you are in junior high. Out of the corner of your eye you see the school "bad asses" circling the hot girl (the one that you have always liked) on their bikes, taunting her and calling her bad words. You decide that you must be the hero and stand up for your girl – that’s obvious. As you approach your destiny, everything goes into slow motion – secondary sounds become mute and the soundtrack starts. You knock the first kid out cold, then you go the next kid. So on and so on.
Remember the fight scene in the beginning of Good Will Hunting? (pardon the language in the beginning)
It’s kind of like that.
If this fight scene was in a movie, what songs would be playing in the background as skulls are being cracked and girls heart's are being won? This is my top ten list. (in no specific order)
1. Killing in the Name – Rage Against the Machine.
2. Eye of the Tiger – Survivor
3. Sabotage – Beastie Boys
4. National Anthem – Radiohead
5. Glosoli – Sigur Ros (especially near the end)
…frick, that’s all I got, I can’t think of anymore. Anybody else have any good ones?

Top 10 video games - for real!
…So, the right side of my right thumb is pretty close to being blistered.

That obviously means that I have been playing too many video games lately. OR I haven’t been playing enough video games lately and my thumb is not in shape. I will plead the second of those two scenarios.
Yesterday I played NCAA football 2004 for about 4 hours with Dustin. It was pretty sweet…especially since I owned him all day long! Actually, i did come out on top, even though it was pretty close. Not to brag, but i am so much better than he is. Like, way better.
I was thinking about my video game playing history, and about my favorites from past and present. I started making a list...yeah, i know i am forgetting some...but anyways...here they are, my top 10.
In no specific order:
1. NBA JAM – Super NES

2. Baseball Stars – Nintendo

3. Mario Cart – Super NES (way better then the N64 version)

4. Bond – N64

5. Half life/counterstrike – I played way too much of this my first year of college. We had this computer nerd in our dorm that would set up these “LAN” games and then destroy us. I think his name was Trevor and he probably makes $200,000 a year now.

6. Virtua Tennis – Sega Dreamcast (this was a hot game!)

7. FIFA 2007 – Xbox

8. NHL 1996 – Sega

9. Madden 2006 – Xbox

10. Out of the park baseball 2007 – computer (for all of you baseball sim nerds - not that i am one or anything)
Ok – so most of these are sports games. I am probably missing a few that i will remember later. And to clarify, i know that there are classic games like super tecmo bowl, zelda, halo, mike tyson's punchout et... it's not that they are not great or are not top 10 worthy...it's just that i never really got into those (or sucked at them) for some reason or another...
Lets have em. top 10 games. charlie bucket, what are yours?

supposedly i have a webjournal
that sucks.
Remember in The Office when Creed thinks he has an online blog that everyone is reading - when in reality it is just a word document on his computer? Yeah, that's what i was hoping my online webjournal would be. no such luck i guess

Seahawks win
i didn't see the game. 33-6.
Let's be honest though. Shaun Alexander is not good, has never really been good, and will never become good. he had a great line and he always got the glory TD's. The unfortunate thing is that he showed his true colors a few years ago with the "knife in the back" - and therefore people know what kind of a person he really is. And that would be a selfish person that has overachieved (at least statwise) and is finding those huge holes hard to find. At least he still knows how to lay down in the backfield. And he still has about 300 million dollars no matter he bad he continues to be...
